Spotify has enhanced its AI DJ feature for Premium users, introducing an exciting new capability: the option to submit music requests via text. This innovation allows users to communicate in both English and Spanish, with the Spanish AI DJ, named DJ Livi, now able to accept musical input as well. Earlier this year, Spotify had already updated its AI DJ to accept voice commands, transitioning from a model that only played songs based on user preferences. This voice feature was initially limited to the English-speaking audience until the recent upgrade. As AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini have gained popularity, the ability to interact with virtual assistants through various input methods has become commonplace. In response to this trend, Spotify's latest update mirrors similar advancements in platforms like Apple's Siri, which now also supports text interactions. This shift reflects a growing user preference for communicating without using their voice, particularly when in public or quiet settings. In addition to accepting text requests, Spotify's AI DJ will provide personalized prompt suggestions, helping users who may be unsure of what to listen to next. To access this feature, simply search for "DJ" on Spotify and hit play to enjoy a custom music selection. Users can modify their listening experience by tapping the DJ button located in the bottom-right corner of the screen, where they can submit requests through either voice or text. Spotify emphasizes that the DJ can manage requests that incorporate various elements, such as genre, mood, artist, or activity. This feature is now available in English and Spanish across more than 60 markets globally.
