Spotify revamps its Discover Weekly playlist after ten years

Spotify is rolling out an exciting update to its popular Discover Weekly playlist, which delivers personalized music suggestions every Monday. After a decade since its launch, the revamped feature introduces new controls for Spotify Premium users, enabling them to tailor their recommendations by genre. Music lovers now have the ability to refine their listening experience. If a user typically enjoys 80s rock but is intrigued by K-pop, they can apply genre filters to shape the playlist's algorithm, steering it toward their evolving musical tastes. This update aims to empower listeners, allowing them more influence over the new music featured in their Discover Weekly playlists. Spotify has reported that users have collectively streamed over 100 billion tracks through Discover Weekly, with a notable 77% of those listens dedicated to emerging artists. To explore the enhanced Discover Weekly, Spotify Premium members can simply head to the "Made for You" hub and locate their Discover Weekly playlist. Provided they have the latest version of the app, the new genre controls will be readily available. In addition to this update, Spotify has been introducing various features designed to give users greater control over their listening experience. The updated queue now displays upcoming recommendations, allowing users to pre-select which tracks they want to keep on their playlist. Moreover, listeners can utilize the 'snooze' function to temporarily mute songs they are tired of, ensuring that these tracks won't be played for a month, yet remain accessible for future enjoyment.
