Spotify now lets you ‘clip’ moments from your favorite podcast

Spotify is set to enhance the way listeners engage with podcasts through its latest feature, Podcast Clips, which launched on Wednesday. This innovative addition allows users to easily extract and share their favorite moments from podcasts using a new scissors icon located in the 'Now Playing' section of the app. With Podcast Clips, users can select specific audio segments, trim them for brevity, and even preview the snippets before sharing them on social media or with friends and colleagues. The sharing options have been expanded to include links to the complete episode, specific chapters, timestamps, or the newly created clips. This feature arrives at a pivotal moment when many tech and AI leaders prefer podcast interviews to traditional media engagements, offering a more casual platform to connect with audiences while avoiding challenging questions. As a result, podcasting has become a primary source of breaking news, with listeners often pressed for time. Podcast Clips aims to streamline the sharing of key insights from these lengthy discussions, making it easier for highlights to reach a wider audience. Spotify has also noted a positive response to its earlier feature, Chapters, which allows users to save longer segments of podcasts. Since its introduction, Chapters have been saved and appended to playlists over two million times each month. The new clip-sharing functionality is expected to further assist in promoting captivating segments, enticing listeners to check out the full episodes for more context. Available globally for both free and Premium users, the Podcast Clips feature will gradually roll out to more shows, and saved clips will be conveniently housed in users' Spotify Libraries for easy access at any time.
