Spotify’s latest feature lets you transfer playlists from other services

Spotify has announced a significant update aimed at simplifying the transition for users switching from other music streaming platforms. The announcement, made on Thursday, reveals a new integration with TuneMyMusic, a service designed to facilitate the transfer of playlists into Spotify libraries. Beginning now, Spotify users can find this feature in the "Your Library" section of the mobile app. To utilize TuneMyMusic, users only need to scroll to the bottom of the page and select the option to "Import your music." Once connected, they can choose the streaming service from which they'd like to transfer their playlists, which will then seamlessly appear in their Spotify library. It’s important to note that this process merely copies playlists to Spotify without deleting the originals from the source service. Initially, TuneMyMusic supports playlist transfers from several major platforms, including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora, SoundCloud, Tidal, and YouTube Music. This new capability intensifies the competition in the music streaming landscape, while also enhancing user data portability. Rival service Apple Music already offers a similar feature for iPhone and iPad users, allowing them to import playlists directly through the iOS and iPadOS Settings app. Android users also have access to this feature. YouTube Music Premium subscribers benefit from the ability to import playlists from various services as well, including Spotify. For potential switchers considering making the leap to Spotify, this integrated transfer feature may serve as an enticing incentive. Moreover, while the free version of TuneMyMusic allows for the transfer of up to 500 tracks, users looking for unlimited transfers will need to subscribe to a paid plan. Although Spotify has not disclosed the specifics of its partnership with TuneMyMusic, both companies stand to gain, with Spotify potentially attracting more customers and TuneMyMusic securing a prominent client.
