Spotify has unveiled its highly anticipated Wrapped feature for 2025, aiming to restore the excitement that was somewhat lacking in last year's iteration. Following feedback from users, the streaming giant is shifting its focus back to what resonates most: an in-depth exploration of user data, creative interactions, and artist engagement. This year, Wrapped promises to be the most expansive yet, debuting nearly a dozen new features alongside fan favorites. One of the standout additions is Wrapped Party, Spotify's first live multiplayer feature. This innovative option allows users to invite up to nine friends to join in on comparing their listening habits. Wrapped Party goes beyond simply sharing personal statistics; it offers unique narratives about group listening behaviors, from identifying the 'most obsessed fan' to the 'dinner table explainer'—the person who consumes the most news podcasts. Another intriguing feature is the new Top Songs Playlist, which now includes play counts for each track, enabling listeners to gauge just how much time they’ve spent with their favorite songs. Additionally, Wrapped introduces an interactive Top Song Quiz that challenges users to guess their top tracks from the past year before revealing the answers. Wrapped Clubs will categorize users into one of six distinct listening styles, such as the 'Soft Hearts Club' or 'Cosmic Stereo Club,' and assign roles based on listening habits. The Listening Age feature offers a comparison of users' music preferences against peers in their demographic, identifying the five-year span of music they engaged with the most. As in previous years, Wrapped will show top songs, artists, genres, and now for the first time, top albums as well. Audiobook and podcast listeners will also receive tailored metrics. Artists and podcasters will continue to have their versions of Wrapped, with top fans receiving personalized video messages. In a recent press briefing, Spotify's Senior Director of Global Marketing, Matt Luhks, acknowledged past criticisms of the AI-centric Wrapped experience from 2024 and emphasized the company's commitment to user feedback in shaping this year's edition. Although the 2025 Wrapped does not prominently feature AI, it does use large language models to enhance storytelling and provide natural language summaries of user data. Amidst growing competition from platforms like Apple and Amazon, which have launched their own year-in-review features, Spotify aims to reaffirm its position as a leader in the annual recap space. Luhks confidently stated that Wrapped still sets the standard for these types of experiences, as the company revealed its top artists and songs for the year, with Bad Bunny leading the pack as the top artist and album, followed by Joe Rogan's podcast and Rebeca Yarros's bestselling book.
