A promising startup from Spain, Altan, has successfully raised $2.5 million to enhance its innovative software development solution powered by artificial intelligence. Based in Barcelona, Altan allows users to create software simply by using text or voice prompts. Co-founder and CEO Albert Salgueda shared insights with Business Insider, explaining the shift in software development practices. "In the past, companies relied on teams of developers to design specific solutions for their needs or those of their clients," he stated. "Now, that process is being automated, marking a significant evolution in the industry." At the core of Altan's offering is a team of AI agents, each assigned distinct roles such as user experience designers and full-stack engineers. These agents manage everything from setting up internal databases to overseeing backend automation. Since its inception in 2023, Altan has attracted around 25,000 users, including businesses and non-technical founders. Salgueda provided an example of Altan's capabilities, noting, "For instance, in a restaurant scenario, we can quickly create a tailored reservation system or inventory management software that allows for order taking and product storage, all within hours." The startup is currently exploring its business model, offering subscription plans that start at approximately $25 per month. The surge in popularity of AI-assisted coding tools this year has positioned Altan well within the competitive landscape. Other companies in the space, such as Lovable, Windsurf, and Replit, have also garnered substantial funding, indicating a growing interest in AI-enhanced coding solutions. Salgueda acknowledged that operating in this "super hot space" significantly aided Altan's fundraising efforts. The pre-seed funding round was led by VentureFriends and JME Ventures, with contributions from 4Founders Ventures, angel investor Carles Reina from ElevenLabs, and others. With this new funding, Altan plans to expand its current team of seven, paving the way for further innovation and growth in the software development sector.
