The recent initial public offering (IPO) of SpaceX has propelled founder and CEO Elon Musk's stake in the aerospace giant to an astonishing value exceeding $1 trillion. However, Musk is not the sole beneficiary of this monumental listing, as the IPO has also created a wave of new millionaires and increased the fortunes of several other shareholders to over a billion dollars. In its debut week on the stock market, SpaceX captivated investors eager to join Musk's ambitious vision. The company's market capitalization initially soared past that of tech titans such as Amazon and, for a fleeting moment, Microsoft. However, a downturn in sentiment led to a dip in its market value, with SpaceX closing Thursday at $2.43 trillion, just below Amazon's standing. Despite this, shares were still up by 37% from their offering price of $135 following the historic launch. Utilizing data from FactSet, CNBC identified numerous shareholders with stakes exceeding $1 billion. Among them, Valor Equity Partners boasts a significant stake valued at approximately $96.6 billion, largely held by its clients. The firm's founder, Antonio Gracias, a long-time associate of Musk, is a board member at SpaceX. Gracias has known Musk for over two decades, having been introduced through mutual friend David Sacks, who previously held a notable position in the Trump Administration. Another key player is Luke Nosek, a co-founder of PayPal and a member of SpaceX's board since 2008, whose stake is estimated at $6.3 billion. Nosek is also a co-founder of prominent venture capital firms Founders Fund and Gigafund, and previously served on the board of AI company DeepMind. Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's president and COO, is one of Musk's earliest hires, with her stake valued at $2.4 billion. In an interview on the IPO day, she emphasized her role in operational management, allowing Musk to focus on strategic vision. Nathan Silvernail, a former engineer at SpaceX, noted Shotwell's critical role in ensuring the operational execution that sustains the business and secures funding. Additionally, Bret Johnsen, SpaceX's CFO since 2011, oversees the company's long-term financial strategies. His stake in the company is currently worth $1.2 billion, reflecting the financial success that has followed SpaceX's groundbreaking IPO.
