SpaceX submits detailed financial filing ahead of going public in June

In a groundbreaking move, SpaceX has unveiled a comprehensive financial overview as it prepares for its highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO) slated for June 12. After almost 25 years of operating as a private entity, the company has disclosed a detailed 400-page S-1 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, marking a significant shift in its financial transparency. Founded in 2002 and currently under the leadership of Elon Musk, SpaceX's filing did not present any major revelations regarding its core space operations. However, it did provide extensive insights into the company's diverse portfolio, which now spans launch services, spaceflight, satellite internet, and, following its acquisition of Musk's xAI, ventures into social media and artificial intelligence. The financial report highlights that SpaceX generated $18.67 billion in revenue during 2025, a notable increase from $14.02 billion the previous year. Despite turning a minor profit in 2024, the company faced a significant loss of $4.94 billion in 2025, primarily attributed to its investments in AI development. SpaceX also outlined an ambitious “total addressable market” (TAM) estimated at an astonishing $28.5 trillion across its current and future offerings in space, data, and AI services. Of this vast market, approximately $2 trillion is associated directly with space and SpaceX's Starlink network, while the remaining $26.5 trillion is expected to stem from AI, particularly in enterprise applications. The company boldly claims, "We believe we have identified the largest TAM in human history," as stated on page 171 of the filing. It forecasts that its next trillion-dollar opportunity will come from AI computing, which it envisions will leverage its rockets and satellites for extensive orbital deployments. To support its market estimates, SpaceX's filing draws on various sources, including projections from the RAND Corporation, alongside internal assumptions regarding global data center compute demand, AI workload capabilities, and operational metrics like power usage and pricing.
