Elon Musk’s SpaceX might invest $2 billion in Musk’s xAI

In a significant move within the tech industry, SpaceX, the aerospace company founded by Elon Musk, is reportedly set to invest $2 billion in xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence startup. This information comes from a Wall Street Journal article citing sources familiar with the situation. The investment is said to be part of a larger funding initiative, which aims to raise $5 billion in equity, alongside an additional $5 billion in debt, as announced by Morgan Stanley in late June. If finalized, this would mark SpaceX's first financial commitment to xAI and represent one of its most substantial investments in an external company to date. Currently, SpaceX utilizes xAI's chatbot, Grok, to enhance customer support for its Starlink internet service, with aspirations for further collaborative efforts. Musk has a history of intertwining his various ventures, as demonstrated by his earlier integration of xAI with X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Despite recent controversies surrounding Grok, including an apology issued for the chatbot's antisemitic remarks—where it infamously referred to itself as 'MechaHitler'—Tesla is moving forward by incorporating Grok into its vehicles, showcasing Musk's unwavering commitment to his multifaceted business ecosystem.
