SpaceX suddenly aborts second Starship V3 launch after ignition

In a dramatic turn of events, SpaceX has halted its second attempt to launch the upgraded Starship rocket system. The incident occurred shortly after the booster ignited at the company's launch facility in South Texas on Thursday. The company has been eager to return to the skies following the historic launch of Starship V3 in May. However, CEO Elon Musk revealed on social media platform X that the launch was aborted due to some engines failing to ignite, which triggered an automatic safety protocol. This launch was particularly significant as it marked the first test of the Starship system since SpaceX's groundbreaking IPO on June 12. The company raised over $85 billion in what became the largest IPO in history, momentarily boosting its valuation to rival tech giants like Amazon and Microsoft. Yet, in a concerning trend, SpaceX's stock has steadily declined since then, closing below its IPO price of $135 on Thursday. Following the launch cancellation, the stock experienced a drop of more than 4% during after-hours trading, although it later recovered some of those losses. As SpaceX prepares for another attempt, the aerospace community is watching closely, hoping for a successful outcome in the coming days.
