Dogfighting in space? This company builds satellites for “high-tempo engagement.”

Envisioning the future of space conflict, True Anomaly is developing a revolutionary satellite platform that shifts the paradigm of warfare beyond the dramatic portrayals seen in films like Star Wars. Unlike the fast-paced, action-packed battles of fictional space operas, True Anomaly’s approach is deeply strategic and methodical, reminiscent of the tension-filled narrative of the classic thriller, The Day of the Jackal. In this cerebral battleground, True Anomaly's flagship product, the Jackal satellite, is poised to redefine engagement in orbit. The name 'Jackal' reflects the platform's intelligence and adaptability, akin to the cunning nature of its terrestrial namesake. Designed for mass production, the Jackal platform is engineered for agility and precision in maneuvering through space. So far, True Anomaly has successfully conducted three test missions with the Jackal, with a fourth mission on the horizon. The satellite’s chassis, roughly the size of a refrigerator, serves as a versatile flying fuel tank, equipped with thrusters and sensors that enable rapid turns and close surveillance of other orbiting objects. The ultimate goal is to prepare for potential orbital combat scenarios. Co-founded by former Air Force space operations officer, True Anomaly has garnered approximately $400 million in investments, including backing from a venture capital firm co-founded by Vice President JD Vance. With a growing workforce now numbering in the hundreds, True Anomaly is on the verge of significant advancements in space technology, positioning itself as a leader in the emerging field of satellite warfare, as highlighted by co-founder Rogers in a recent interview.
