Did Artemis II break through? Registrations at Space Camp double afterward.

Jared Isaacman, the NASA Administrator, reflects on his formative experiences at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, where he first grasped the thrill of aviation at just 12 years old. "Attending the Aviation Challenge opened my eyes to flying an airplane for the first time," he shared during a recent event at the US Space & Rocket Center. This early encounter with the skies ignited his passion for aviation, leading him to become a pilot—a dream rooted in his childhood fascination with space. Years later, after achieving success as the founder of an online payments company and embarking on two spaceflights as a private citizen aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon, Isaacman returned to Space Camp, inspired to give back. Following his historic Inspiration4 mission in 2021, he contributed $10 million to facilitate the expansion of Space Camp, and on Friday, he inaugurated the new "Inspiration4 Skills Training Complex." This impressive 47,000-square-foot facility was built with an additional $15 million donation from Isaacman, aimed at fostering future generations of space enthusiasts. In a continued commitment to nurturing young talent, Isaacman has also pledged his salary to support Space Camp's initiatives, including the construction of a new dormitory. Space Camp has become a cultural touchstone in the United States, especially after the release of the 1986 film "Space Camp," which, despite its outlandish plot, captured the imagination of many. The movie, which depicted teenagers launching into space alongside a robot, gained notoriety shortly after the Challenger disaster, yet it has left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire young dreamers today.
