The innovative education startup, sortmyprep, has successfully raised approximately $350,000 in a pre-seed funding round, led by a diverse group of angel investors from both India and abroad. This influx of capital is set to enhance the company's AI infrastructure, broaden its curriculum offerings, and fuel its growth trajectory both in India and globally. Previously supported by PIEDS and BITS Pilani, sortmyprep specializes in AI-driven exam preparation for schools. The platform currently serves international curricula, including the IB and IGCSE, and features Sorty, a conversational AI tutor. This tool is designed to provide personalized support and resolve doubts for students around the clock. The funding round saw participation from notable investors, including Boman Irani of Rustomjee Group, Sameer Mehta, co-founder of boAt, and several other prominent figures in the business community. Founded by Ananya, Aryaman, and Naman, sortmyprep merges cutting-edge AI technology with validated academic workflows to offer tailored learning assistance. The startup reports that it currently supports students across more than 15 countries and has amassed a unique dataset comprising over one million human-generated learning data points. Interestingly, sortmyprep has achieved 71% of its user base through referrals and organic growth, without the need for paid advertising. Sameer Mehta noted that this impressive organic growth underscores the quality of the product and the evident market demand. Boman Irani emphasized that the platform effectively addresses a significant challenge faced by schools by delivering accurate, curriculum-specific academic support when students need it. In addition to its investors, sortmyprep also benefits from collaborations with renowned organizations such as Nvidia, Google for Startups, OpenAI, BITS Pilani, and Ashoka University. Sachin Arya, Head of PIEDS at BITS Pilani, highlighted that the startup's specialized AI platform combines proprietary technology with expert-validated content, creating a scalable foundation for further expansion in both Indian and international educational sectors. The company aims to extend its reach beyond international curricula to include CBSE, ICSE, and other significant global educational systems as learning models shift increasingly toward competency-based approaches. The founders expressed that the new funding will expedite product development, expand curriculum coverage, and enhance the company’s global presence, all while focusing on delivering personalized, accurate, and outcome-oriented learning experiences.
