Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones with 12-mic noise cancellation launched in India

Sony India has officially launched the WH-1000XM6, the latest addition to its acclaimed 1000X series of wireless noise-cancelling headphones. This new model boasts advanced features tailored for commuters, travelers, and professionals alike, ensuring an immersive audio experience. The WH-1000XM6 is powered by Sony’s HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3, which enhances sound processing speed compared to its predecessor. This model is equipped with 12 microphones—up from eight in the WH-1000XM5—to better detect and counteract external noise, providing a superior noise cancellation experience. In terms of design, the headphones feature a newly designed headband crafted from vegan leather, along with wider padding for increased comfort during extended use. The stretchable earpads enhance wearability, making them ideal for long listening sessions. These headphones also fold compactly using a metal injection mechanism, with a magnetic case closure for easy access. A standout feature is the Adaptive NC Optimiser, which automatically fine-tunes noise cancellation based on surrounding noise levels and air pressure. Additionally, the Ambient Sound mode has been improved to ensure a seamless blend of external sounds with the audio being played. Equipped with a carbon fiber composite dome and a newly designed voice coil structure, the driver unit ensures high-quality sound playback. The WH-1000XM6 supports High-Resolution Audio in both wired and wireless modes through LDAC, and utilizes Edge-AI-based DSEE Extreme technology for upscaling compressed audio files. Users can take advantage of additional controls via the Sony | Sound Connect app, which features a 10-band equalizer, film audio effects, and a specialized Game EQ from Sony’s INZONE range. Furthermore, the headphones support 360 Reality Audio Upmix, transforming stereo tracks into a spatial audio experience. For clear communication, the headphones utilize a six-microphone AI-based beamforming system that isolates the user’s voice while reducing background noise. They also support LE Audio with Auracast, multipoint connections, and low-latency transmission for gaming applications. Battery life is impressive, featuring fast charging capabilities—just three minutes of charge time provides up to three hours of playback. Additionally, users can listen while charging via USB. The WH-1000XM6 will be available in Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue starting September 29, 2025, with a retail price of ₹39,990. They can be purchased through Sony Centres, select Croma and Reliance outlets, as well as online on the ShopatSC.com portal and Amazon.
