In a significant shift, Sony has announced that it will no longer release current and future single-player titles for PC. This decision, reported by Bloomberg, includes the cancellation of PC versions for notable games such as last year's 'Ghost of Tsushima' and the upcoming 'Returnal' sequel, 'Saros'. While this move raises eyebrows, some multiplayer and third-party games will still make their way to personal computers. Sources close to the situation, as cited by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, indicate that there are concerns within Sony regarding the potential negative impact on PlayStation 5 sales, as well as those of its future consoles. There’s also apprehension about the possibility of PlayStation games appearing on rival Xbox systems, especially if Microsoft follows through on rumors of integrating PC gaming into their next console. Despite this change in strategy, there are notable exceptions. Multiplayer titles will continue to be released across platforms, including 'Marathon', a revival of Bungie’s classic first-person shooter franchise, which is set to launch tomorrow on both PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Additionally, certain games that are essentially first-party for PlayStation 5 but created by external studios—like 'Death Stranding 2: On the Beach' and the newly announced 'Kena: Scars of Kosmora'—will still find their way to PC gamers.
