Snapchat has reported remarkable growth within its creator community in India, underscoring a surge in content creation and engagement. Over the past two years, the total time Indian users spend watching content on the platform has doubled. Additionally, the number of official Snap Stars has increased by 1.5 times, while the volume of creator and publisher posts to Spotlight has skyrocketed with a fourfold year-on-year increase. These developments were highlighted during Snapchat's Creator Connect event in Delhi on September 26, part of a broader initiative aimed at empowering Gen Z creators through mentorship, education, and monetization opportunities. The event also showcased augmented reality (AR) tools designed to enhance the connection between creators and their audiences. Saket Jha Saurabh, Director and Head of Content & AR Partnerships at Snap Inc., emphasized India's significance in the company's global creator strategy. Programs like Snap School and Snap With Stars are tailored to broaden opportunities for creators, including those in non-metropolitan regions. The event featured a discussion with actors Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa, who shared insights on their work and their engagement with fans via Snapchat. Demonstrations of Snapchat's fifth-generation Spectacles revealed new AR features that enhance user experience. Creators at the event praised Snapchat for its commitment to authenticity and vertical-first storytelling, which resonates strongly with younger audiences. Voice artist Sonal Kaushal expressed that the platform provides a unique space for self-expression, while Snap Star Amulya Rattan highlighted the monetization and brand collaboration opportunities available through Snapchat’s creator initiatives. Snapchat continues to collaborate with leading brands across various sectors in India, including fashion, lifestyle, beauty, consumer tech, and quick commerce. Partnerships with industry giants like Myntra, Flipkart, L’Oréal, Unilever, and Reckitt have enabled Snap Stars and AR creators to engage Gen Z through targeted influencer marketing campaigns. The platform is also expanding its network of creator agencies in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata. Industry experts have noted a rising trend of Gen Z creators flocking to Snapchat, particularly for engaging in immersive content. Furthermore, notable athletes and entertainers, including Neeraj Chopra, Rishabh Pant, and Abhishek Sharma, are leveraging the platform to share personal narratives and strengthen fan connections, while artists like Diljit Dosanjh and Rashmika Mandanna are captivating audiences with exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses. As one of Snapchat’s fastest-growing creator markets globally, the company is dedicated to investing in local talent, storytelling tools, and AR innovations to fortify its standing within India’s digital creator economy.
