Snap adds new tools for building Bitmoji games

Snap Inc. has announced the rollout of innovative tools within its Lens Studio, designed specifically for AR creators and developers eager to craft engaging Bitmoji games. This new offering, dubbed the Bitmoji Suite, comes alongside a set of fresh game assets that elevate the creative possibilities for game development. With the introduction of Lens Studio version 5.10, developers will gain access to dynamic game Lenses that support a turn-based gameplay system, allowing for interactive back-and-forth play. Furthermore, users can now snap and respond to challenges in real-time within the same game. The update also features a customizable Character Controller, accommodating various gameplay styles such as third-person, first-person, side-scrolling, and top-down perspectives. Enhancements to the leaderboard include new templates for both start and end screens, a unified view of friends and global scores, and additional metrics highlighting friends who have engaged with the games. Furthermore, the Bitmoji Suite introduces tools for personalization and animation, enabling users to create custom outfits, develop stylized props, and bring them to life using Snap's extensive library. Among the new single-player and turn-based Bitmoji Game Lenses are titles like Bitmoji Bistro, Bitmoji Buckets, and Beatmoji Blast, which invite users to play and challenge their friends. Previously, users could enjoy a variety of game Lenses created by AR developers, but this marks the inaugural launch of a dedicated collection aimed at friend challenges. 'Lens Studio empowers our vibrant community of over 375,000 AR creators, developers, and teams to seamlessly build and publish Lenses, and we are thrilled to provide them with even more tools for creation,' Snap stated in a communication to TechCrunch. Additionally, developers are encouraged to participate in the Bitmojiverse Challenge, where they can compete for cash prizes by utilizing the new Bitmoji Suite and Games assets.
