Slate Auto teams up with Crayola to color its EV truck

Slate Auto, an electric vehicle startup with backing from Jeff Bezos, is redefining customization in the automotive world. The company offers a starting model—a gray electric truck priced at $24,950—that emphasizes simplicity, allowing buyers to personalize their vehicles extensively through a variety of wraps, decals, and accessories. In an exciting new initiative, Slate Auto has announced a collaboration with Crayola, introducing five vibrant vehicle wraps inspired by the iconic crayon brand. These wraps feature signature colors like Cerulean, Fern, Jersey Tomato, Razzmatazz, and Dandelion, priced at $1,549.99 each. Each purchase also includes a matching Crayola key fob and a unique dashboard art piece known as a 'Slatelet' to enhance the overall design experience. This partnership marks Crayola's first venture into the automotive sector, a move highlighted by Anna Roca, Crayola's head of global partnerships. While Slate Auto has previously explored collaborations—such as with NYC artist Max Kolo—this initiative stands out for its appeal to a younger audience. Although Slate Auto has not disclosed plans for additional partners, a spokesperson hinted at the potential for more collaborations in the future, expressing excitement about welcoming various creators and makers. As a newcomer to the automotive landscape, Slate Auto emerged from stealth mode in April 2025 and is gearing up for its first deliveries. The company recently announced its base pricing and has begun accepting pre-orders, with vehicles initially available as two-seat models and the option to upgrade to a five-seater SUV at $29,950.
