Slack's new head just denounced Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff's ICE jokes in internal messages

In a recent turn of events at Salesforce, Slack's newly appointed general manager has taken a firm stance against comments made by CEO Marc Benioff regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Internal communication revealed that Benioff's jokes about ICE monitoring employee travel did not sit well with many staff members. Rob Seaman, Slack's general manager, expressed his disapproval in an internal Slack message, stating, "I cannot defend or explain them. They do not align with my personal values, and I know this to be the case for many of you as well." Seaman’s comments highlight a growing concern among employees regarding the appropriateness of leadership's remarks. Despite repeated inquiries, Salesforce has not yet issued a formal response to the backlash surrounding Benioff's comments. Seaman mentioned that he anticipates a statement addressing the issue and indicated he would bring it up during the next all-hands Slack call if necessary. He aims to shift the focus back to the positive contributions of the team amidst the controversy. The leadership shuffle at Salesforce follows the departure of Slack's former CEO, Denise Dresser, who transitioned to OpenAI as chief revenue officer. As part of this restructuring, Joe Inzerillo has been promoted to president of enterprise and AI technology, supervising both Slack and Agentforce. In a separate message, Craig Broscow, a vice president at Salesforce, urged Benioff to publicly acknowledge the discontent among employees. Broscow emphasized that while many employees find joy in their work, the recent comments have overshadowed their enthusiasm, urging for a prompt public response from Benioff to address the concerns raised by staff.
