SK Hynix, the leading chip manufacturer in South Korea, is set to make waves in the financial markets by aiming to raise approximately $29 billion through a Nasdaq listing. The company's regulatory filing reveals plans to issue American depositary receipts (ADRs) totaling 17.79 million new shares, valued at about 45.45 trillion won, equivalent to $29.65 billion. Expected to commence trading on July 10, although this date may be subject to adjustments, SK Hynix believes that this move will significantly broaden its investor base. The company expressed confidence that the ADR listing will help in accurately reflecting its corporate value. In their official statement, SK Hynix emphasized the importance of expanding its presence in the U.S., a critical hub for AI advancements. The company is on a rapid growth trajectory, responding to the increasing demand for AI technologies. As part of its expansion strategy, SK Hynix is constructing a substantial new facility known as the Yongin Cluster in South Korea, which will house memory chip fabrication plants and is expected to begin operations in 2027. Additionally, the firm is venturing into the U.S. market for the first time with a $4 billion packaging facility in Indiana. The offering is being overseen by several prominent financial institutions, including BofA Securities, Citigroup Global Markets, Goldman Sachs, and JP Morgan Securities, according to reports. This is a developing story, and further updates are anticipated.
