Apple’s Siri to get major redesign with iOS 27: Here’s what’s changing

Apple is gearing up to unveil its next major software update, iOS 27, during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, which is scheduled for June 8-12, 2026. As anticipation builds, hints from the event's promotional materials suggest a significant redesign for Siri, the company’s voice assistant. According to insights from Bloomberg, Siri's new look may feature a captivating glowing visual effect, particularly prominent in dark mode on iPhones. This redesign aims to integrate Siri more seamlessly into the user interface, allowing the assistant to appear within the Dynamic Island rather than as a full-screen overlay. When activated, the Dynamic Island could slightly expand, accompanied by a glowing cursor indicating that Siri is ready to listen. This update marks what could be Siri's second major redesign since iOS 18, which introduced a range of AI functionalities under the Apple Intelligence banner. Although Siri has yet to receive the significant AI enhancements that were suggested back in 2024, reports indicate that iOS 27 could finally bring these advancements. Among the anticipated features, Siri may become increasingly conversational, capable of handling multiple requests simultaneously—like sending a message, setting a reminder, and opening Maps—all in one go. Additionally, the voice assistant is expected to gain personal context awareness and improved onscreen interaction capabilities, potentially leveraging advanced foundation models such as Google’s Gemini AI. Moreover, users might be treated to a dedicated Siri app, enabling them to revisit past conversations with ease. As the WWDC 2026 approaches, all eyes will be on Apple to see how these exciting changes will shape the future of Siri and its integration within the Apple ecosystem.
