You can now customize Siri’s pace and expressivity in the latest iOS 27 beta

Apple has rolled out an exciting feature in the latest iOS 27 developer beta, allowing users to tailor Siri's speaking style and pace. Testers can now experience these enhancements firsthand, as the tech giant focuses on making its AI assistant feel more relatable and personalized. With the introduction of voice controls for 'Pace' and 'Expressivity' in iOS 27 beta 3, users can adjust how quickly Siri speaks and the emotional tone of its voice. Initially marked as 'Coming soon,' these features are now available, reflecting Apple's commitment to evolving Siri with generative AI technologies. This customization aligns Siri more closely with other voice AI assistants, such as ChatGPT, which has offered users extensive options for voice personalization since December 2025. ChatGPT's features allow adjustments in warmth and enthusiasm, enabling a variety of interaction styles from friendly to professional. The new personalization options for Siri were unveiled during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 26) in June. Users can select from a range of accents and voice types, then fine-tune the assistant's speech speed and expressiveness using simple sliders. This hands-on approach allows users to hear common phrases, like "You have one new message," in different voices for a better sense of the adjustments. Siri's advancements are integrated throughout iOS 27, enhancing user interaction. iPhone users can initiate conversations through voice commands, swiping down from the Dynamic Island, typing, or using the newly introduced standalone Siri app. Alongside these major updates, minor changes have also been made, including a refreshed icon for the Reminders app. However, some users have reported issues after updating, such as losing access to Siri or experiencing data indexing, a common step in optimizing Siri for search functionalities.
