Sierra, the customer service technology firm co-founded by Bret Taylor, has made a significant move by acquiring Fragment, a French startup supported by Y Combinator. This acquisition, announced on Thursday, marks the third public purchase for Sierra, underscoring its aggressive expansion strategy in the AI sector. Fragment specializes in integrating artificial intelligence into business workflows, a focus that aligns perfectly with Sierra’s mission. The co-founders of Fragment, Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthail, will be joining Sierra’s team, a decision that Sierra’s leadership believes will enhance their capabilities in developing AI agents, particularly within the French market. In a blog post detailing the acquisition, Taylor and co-founder Clay Bavor expressed confidence in the new team's ability to contribute significantly to Sierra’s growth. While the financial specifics of the deal remain undisclosed, Pitchbook estimates that Fragment had successfully raised approximately $2 million in its seed funding round. Bret Taylor, who also holds the position of chairman at OpenAI, co-founded Sierra after resigning as co-CEO of Salesforce earlier this year. Under his leadership, Sierra has attracted notable clients such as Casper, Clear, and Brex, and has successfully garnered over $630 million in funding from prominent investors like Sequoia and Benchmark, achieving a valuation of $10 billion.
