ServiceNow lays out path to $30 billion in annual subscription revenue as AI bets accelerate

In a bold move to capture investor confidence, ServiceNow has unveiled its strategic vision for thriving in the AI era. During a recent analyst meeting, President and CFO Gina Mastantuono laid out financial targets that aim for over $30 billion in subscription revenue by the year 2030, a significant increase from the anticipated $15.7 billion in 2026. Mastantuono indicated that there is potential for revenue to exceed $32 billion, which would represent an impressive compound annual growth rate of around 20%. The company is addressing investor concerns about the impact of AI on profit margins by revealing that AI-related costs constitute less than 10% of its overall service expenses, enabling it to sustain gross margins above 80% even as AI adoption increases. Looking ahead, ServiceNow is forecasting a 100 basis point expansion in both operating margin and free cash flow margin by 2027. The company has set an ambitious goal to achieve its “Rule of 60+” by 2030, which combines at least 60% revenue growth with 60% free cash flow margin. Despite a challenging year for many software stocks, with fears that generative AI could diminish software demand, ServiceNow's new projections aim to reassure investors that AI will not only be a stable part of its operations but also a significant growth catalyst. This update follows a strong first quarter in which subscription revenue soared 22% year over year, reaching $3.67 billion. However, investor concerns regarding AI's effects on margins and delays in deals due to geopolitical tensions have led to stock fluctuations. A key aspect of ServiceNow's strategy is AI monetization. The CFO reported that their flagship AI product, Now Assist, achieved an annual contract value (ACV) exceeding $600 million by 2025 and has surpassed $750 million in the first quarter of 2026. Projections suggest this figure could reach over $1.5 billion by year-end and represent more than 30% of total ACV by 2030. The data indicates that AI is becoming a critical component of larger ServiceNow contracts, with 91% of net new ACV in 2025 originating from customers who purchased multiple products, notably those including Now Assist. Additionally, ServiceNow's own internal AI initiatives generated an annualized value of $500 million in 2025, which included $100 million in savings on operating expenses. These savings are anticipated to exceed $200 million in 2026, further demonstrating the efficacy of AI integration within the company.
