During a recent event in Bangalore, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed his latest passion project: an AI-driven cricket analysis application. This innovative tool, which he crafted during the Thanksgiving holiday, allows users to engage with the sport in a new way, even helping him compile an all-time Indian Test cricket XI. Nadella passionately shared the features of the Deep Research AI app, which showcases its ability to generate consensus on player selections and stimulate discussions around choices, such as the fierce debate between Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the captaincy role, ultimately favoring Kohli. In addition to his tech ventures, Nadella's visit to India was marked by a significant partnership between Microsoft and the Ministry of Labour and Employment. In a ceremony in New Delhi, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at boosting job opportunities and enhancing AI training for the Indian workforce. This partnership is designed to connect over 15,000 global employers with the National Career Service platform, thus broadening access to formal employment and addressing the demands of high-growth industries. Nadella highlighted the impressive strides India has made in social protection, noting an increase in coverage from 19% in 2015 to 64.3% by 2025, benefiting around 940 million citizens. He emphasized the importance of integrating AI into platforms like e-Shram and the National Career Service to strengthen social security initiatives, working towards a goal of providing social protection to 100 crore citizens by March 2026. Nadella praised the e-Shram initiative for its role in including unorganised workers within the social safety net and enabling more informed, data-driven policy decisions.
