On February 26, the AI startup Sarvam announced an exciting partnership with SBI Life Insurance aimed at developing advanced AI applications for enhancing customer engagement and boosting sales. This initiative is set to extend the reach of generative AI across one of India's largest networks for insurance distribution. The collaboration is anticipated to impact over 80 million customers and empower more than 350,000 distributors throughout the country. Sarvam highlighted this milestone in a post on X, emphasizing the scale of their endeavor to enhance the customer experience in the insurance sector. Central to this initiative are Sarvam’s innovative platforms: Samvaad, a conversational AI system, and Arya, a multi-agent orchestration platform. Together, these technologies enable the seamless coordination of various AI systems to execute tasks efficiently using enterprise data. Sarvam's goal is to transition AI projects from experimental phases into full-scale operational deployment within large organizations. This announcement underscores the growing trend among financial service providers in India to leverage AI, aiming to automate customer interactions, enhance sales productivity, and broaden their digital presence in an increasingly competitive market. Earlier the same day, another AI startup, Gnani.ai, revealed its partnership with fintech Razorpay to create an AI platform capable of managing payment collections during live customer calls, addressing longstanding challenges in automated debt recovery. Both Sarvam and Gnani.ai showcased their latest innovations last week at the India AI Impact Summit, with Sarvam unveiling two new flagship language models, Sarvam-30B and Sarvam-105B. Likewise, Gnani.ai introduced a voice model that operates across 12 Indian languages, even in low-bandwidth scenarios—a crucial feature for millions of users relying on older devices and inconsistent connectivity.
