In Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, Samsung has unveiled its latest groundbreaking technology, the 'Micro RGB' TV, which aims to bridge the gap between Mini LED and Micro LED displays. Priced at $30,000 and boasting an impressive 114.5-inch diagonal screen, this television may be out of reach for many consumers, yet it signifies a major advancement in display technology. The 'Micro RGB' TV utilizes a unique RGB backlight combined with Micro LED-sized diodes, providing a remarkable alternative to traditional display technologies. While it does not feature self-emissive pixels like true Micro LED displays, Samsung representatives emphasized that this TV occupies a distinctive position in the market, enhancing the viewing experience through thousands of local dimming zones. Samsung's innovative backlight system is capable of generating red, green, and blue light from tiny RGB LEDs, which sets it apart from most LCD-LED backlights that typically only emit blue or white light. This precision control allows for a larger color gamut, with claims that the 'Micro RGB' TV can cover 100 percent of the BT.2020 color space, surpassing that of DCI-P3. Despite its impressive features, the 'Micro RGB' TV does face competition from Micro LED and OLED technologies, particularly in terms of light bleed and contrast levels. However, with approximately four times the number of dimming zones compared to Samsung's 115-inch QN90F Mini LED TV, this new model aims to deliver enhanced contrast and color accuracy, although specific Delta E measurements have not been released. As Samsung continues to push the boundaries of display technology, the 'Micro RGB' TV represents a significant step forward, offering a glimpse into the future of premium televisions.
