Folding phone demand ramps up as Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 sold out in India

Samsung has reported that its latest smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, has quickly sold out in various regions across India, driven by what the company calls 'unprecedented' consumer demand. To address this overwhelming interest, the South Korean tech giant is increasing production at its Noida facility to restock and meet consumer needs. This remarkable demand follows a staggering 210,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, alongside its siblings, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which were placed within just the first 48 hours of their launch. Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President of MX Business at Samsung India, acknowledged the shortfall in many markets due to the high demand, stating, 'We are working overtime to ensure adequate supplies of our most advanced smartphone.' Retailers across the nation, such as Vijay Sales, have also noted strong sales figures. Director Nilesh Gupta commented that numerous top outlets in major cities have already sold out of the device, indicating a clear enthusiasm among customers for the innovative features and premium experience offered by the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The new foldable smartphone boasts a sleek and lightweight design, weighing in at 215 grams and measuring just 8.9mm when folded. It is available in a range of attractive colors, including Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Mint, and Jet Black. Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and introduces a groundbreaking 200MP wide-angle camera that enhances image quality with improved brightness and detail. Additionally, the device runs on One UI 8, which incorporates advanced multitasking features powered by AI, such as real-time screen sharing through Google’s Gemini Live, along with enhanced privacy protections via Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP). Improvements in build quality include a reengineered Armor FlexHinge, the use of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover display, and a more robust main screen featuring thicker ultra-thin glass along with a titanium plate for added durability. The soaring demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 underscores the increasing appeal of foldable smartphones in India, as this innovative technology continues to gain traction in mainstream markets.
