As the new year approaches, concerns are mounting over potential price hikes in the smartphone market, primarily due to escalating memory chip costs. Recent information from tipster Abhishek Yadav on X (formerly Twitter) indicates that Samsung's Galaxy A series may soon see a price increase. According to the leak, the Galaxy A56 is expected to experience a price surge of approximately ₹2,000, while other models in the A series might see an increase of around ₹1,000. The Galaxy A17, launched in August at a starting price of ₹18,999 for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant, could have its base price rise to ₹19,999. The higher-end models are likely to adjust accordingly, with the Galaxy A36 potentially starting at ₹33,999 and the Galaxy A56 reaching up to ₹43,999 for its base variant. The Galaxy A36 and A56 made their debut in India in March, with the A36 starting at ₹32,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB variant and going up to ₹38,999 for the 12GB RAM/256GB version. The A56, on the other hand, began at ₹41,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB variant, reaching ₹47,999 for the higher-spec model. This news comes as other budget smartphone brands, including Vivo, iQOO, Realme, and Oppo, have already implemented price hikes on several of their devices. For example, the Vivo T4 Lite, initially priced at ₹9,999, is currently listed for ₹11,999 on Flipkart. The trend suggests that consumers may need to brace themselves for higher prices across various brands in the coming months.
