Samsung Electronics has officially launched One UI 8, bringing a host of innovative features designed to enhance the user experience across its Galaxy devices. This latest software update introduces multimodal AI capabilities alongside a sleek new design tailored for both smartphones and foldable devices. The rollout begins with the Galaxy S25 series, followed by the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, and Galaxy S24 FE. Additional eligible devices are expected to receive the update later this year. One UI 8 harnesses the power of multimodal AI to seamlessly integrate visual, auditory, and contextual inputs, streamlining daily interactions for users. Among the standout features are Gemini Live, which facilitates real-time communication and contextual insights, and Circle to Search with Google, offering instant in-game assistance and live translations across various apps. The Now Bar and Now Brief functions provide users with real-time updates on app activities, media progress, and personalized reminders. Security enhancements are also a key focus in this update. Samsung has introduced Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which creates app-specific encrypted storage, and Knox Matrix, which automatically signs devices out of accounts when high-risk threats are detected. Furthermore, the upgraded Secure Wi-Fi employs post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to safeguard against emerging cyber threats. One UI 8 optimizes the interface for different device sizes, particularly benefiting larger Galaxy tablets and foldables. New functionalities include the AI Results View, allowing users to keep AI-generated results visible without disrupting their primary content, and improved Multi Window capabilities for effortless drag-and-drop of AI-created text and images into ongoing workflows. Creative tasks are made easier with tools like Drawing Assist and Writing Assist, while users can enjoy features such as Portrait Studio for generating pet portraits and Call Captions for real-time transcription during calls. Customization options now include FlexWindow wallpapers, emojis, and clock designs, alongside a fresh interface with Liquid Glass effects for watch faces and widgets. The update is set to begin this week for the Galaxy S25 lineup, with plans for a gradual expansion to more models around the globe in the coming months. Samsung emphasizes that One UI 8 represents a significant step toward democratizing AI, equipping millions of users with advanced tools while ensuring their privacy remains a top priority.
