Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z Fold7, marking its most sophisticated foldable smartphone to date. This device, launched globally on July 9, showcases a blend of innovative AI technology and precision engineering within a remarkably slim design. Equipped with Android 16 and Samsung’s new One UI 8, specifically designed for its expansive foldable display, the Fold7 promises to elevate the smartphone experience. TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, stated, "Galaxy Z Fold7 combines Galaxy AI with powerful hardware to deliver our most advanced smartphone experience yet. This next chapter of foldables brings together design and engineering, with AI built specifically for the foldable form. It gives people the ultra experience they want - powerful, immersive, intelligent, and portable all in one." Weighing in at just 215 grams, the Fold7 stands out as the lightest device in its category. When folded, it measures only 8.9 mm in thickness, unfolding to reveal a stunning 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that offers 11% more screen area compared to its predecessor. The 6.5-inch cover screen features a wider 21:9 aspect ratio, enhancing usability for single-handed tasks. Durability is a key focus for this model, with Samsung implementing its Armor Flex Hinge, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for the cover screen, and a titanium-reinforced main display that is now 50% thicker and stronger. The device is also certified with an IP48 rating for water resistance. Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, providing a 41% boost in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capabilities and a 38% increase in CPU performance. This hardware advancement supports several on-device AI features, including real-time translation, enhanced photography, and the upgraded Generative Edit tool that can automatically suggest and eliminate background distractions. A standout feature of the Fold7 is its new 200MP wide-angle camera, a first for the Fold series, which delivers four times more detail and brighter images. It is complemented by a 10MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, promising exceptional Night Video performance and 10-bit HDR for rich detail in low-light conditions. On the productivity front, users can enjoy real-time side-by-side comparisons of original and edited photos, improved audio noise reduction, and effortless drag-and-drop AI editing tools across multiple windows. The upgraded One UI 8 enhances context-awareness with features such as Gemini Live, enabling users to interact with AI using voice or visuals, and Circle to Search for instant on-screen answers. Additionally, Samsung has fortified its mobile security with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection and post-quantum cryptography for Wi-Fi connectivity. Pre-orders began on July 9, with the device set to be available starting July 25. The Galaxy Z Fold7 comes in four colors: Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black, and an exclusive online Mint variant. Buyers will also receive six months of Google AI Pro and 2TB of cloud storage at no additional cost.
