Samsung Electronics has officially launched the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic, marking a significant advancement in smartwatch technology with a focus on enhanced wellness tracking through artificial intelligence. These new models, which are now available for pre-order and set to hit global markets on July 25, boast a sleek design that is 11% thinner than previous iterations. The Galaxy Watch8 incorporates a refined cushion design, first introduced with the Galaxy Watch Ultra, and features a Dynamic Lug system that allows for improved wrist movement, enhancing both comfort and accuracy in health monitoring. TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics, stated, "By merging thoughtful design with cutting-edge sensor technology and an intuitive AI experience, the Galaxy Watch8 series aims to foster a healthier and more connected lifestyle." With a peak brightness of 3,000 nits—50% brighter than its predecessors—the display ensures excellent visibility. The watch is powered by Samsung's latest 3nm processor, enhancing performance efficiency. Additionally, a dual-frequency GPS system provides precise location tracking, and the upgraded battery life allows for all-day wear without compromise. Among the new health-focused features are personalized sleep coaching, guidance based on circadian rhythms, and a Vascular Load metric that assesses stress on the vascular system during rest periods. A standout feature is the Antioxidant Index, a pioneering capability that measures carotenoid levels in just five seconds, offering valuable insights into healthy aging. For fitness enthusiasts, a new Running Coach tool delivers real-time performance feedback and creates tailored fitness plans. The updated Together feature gamifies wellness, enabling group runs and fostering community engagement. Additional functionalities like the High Stress Alert, Mindfulness Tracker, and AI-powered Energy Score help users maintain their physical and mental well-being throughout the day. The Galaxy Watch8 series is also the first to feature Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, and operates on Wear OS 6 with Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch. This integration allows for voice commands to initiate runs or send messages directly from the wrist, along with improved Multi-Info Tiles for instant access to health metrics, weather updates, and schedules. Available in sizes of 44mm and 40mm in Graphite or Silver, the Galaxy Watch8 Classic features a rotating bezel and comes in a 46mm size in Black or White. Both models are compatible with a new range of interchangeable bands. Additionally, Samsung previewed the Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Ring, designed for users seeking more rugged or discreet health tracking options.
