Samsung has officially introduced its latest flagship Galaxy S26 series in India during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event. This new lineup comprises three models: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, each boasting enhanced performance, a sleek design, and a bold commitment to what Samsung describes as an 'agentic' AI future. This launch marks the third consecutive year that Samsung is focusing on AI-driven smartphones. The Galaxy S26 series places Galaxy AI at the forefront of the user experience, incorporating innovative on-device agents and contextual features that aim to anticipate user needs seamlessly. TM Roh, CEO and President of Samsung Electronics' Device eXperience (DX) Division, emphasized, "With the Galaxy S26 series, our goal was to make AI feel effortless, operating quietly in the background to allow users to focus on what truly matters." At the top of the lineup, the Galaxy S26 Ultra stands out with its slim 7.9mm profile while maintaining a design reminiscent of its predecessor, featuring a subtly redesigned camera module. The device is equipped with a large 6.9-inch AMOLED display and introduces cutting-edge privacy screen technology aimed at enhancing security and reducing shoulder-surfing in public settings. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the Ultra promises superior performance for AI tasks, gaming, and multitasking. It is backed by a robust 5,000mAh battery and supports the upgraded Super Fast Charging 3.0, which Samsung claims can charge the device up to 75% in just 30 minutes. Camera improvements are also noteworthy, with wider apertures on the 200MP primary sensor designed to enhance low-light photography, alongside upgraded Nightography Video capabilities that deliver brighter and clearer footage in dim environments. The Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus maintain familiar designs, featuring 6.3-inch and 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X displays, respectively, both with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Though the exterior changes are subtle, performance has been significantly boosted with the introduction of the new Exynos 2600 processor. The camera system remains largely intact, showcasing a triple-lens configuration that includes a 50MP main sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The most substantial enhancements in the S26 lineup stem from the new Galaxy AI features that focus on contextual assistance and cross-application intelligence. One of the standout features, 'Now Nudge', suggests relevant actions based on the content displayed on screen, such as saving images or creating calendar events. Additionally, Bixby has been upgraded to enhance its conversational capabilities and can now execute complex commands across various apps and system settings. Existing features like Now Brief and Circle to Search have been enhanced with agent integrations, including Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity, enabling users to engage with multiple AI services directly from their device interface.
