Samsung's recent Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco showcased a range of impressive new products, including the latest S26 series of smartphones and cutting-edge earbuds. The South Korean tech leader introduced three new models: the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26, each featuring significant enhancements over their predecessors. At the forefront, the Galaxy S26 Ultra boasts Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a stunning 6.9-inch QHD+ display, and a robust 5,000 mAh battery. Samsung claims that this flagship device can charge from 0% to 75% in just 30 minutes using a 60W charger and is compatible with the S-Pen stylus. Notably, the S26 Ultra retains its impressive 200-megapixel wide lens and 50-megapixel telephoto lens, but both cameras now feature larger apertures for improved low-light performance. The other two models, the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus, also run on the same processor as the Ultra, although some regions will receive the Exynos 2600 processor. The Galaxy S26 sees an increase in battery capacity compared to last year's version, while the S26 Plus supports wireless charging at 20W. Pricing starts at $899 for the Galaxy S26, $1,099 for the S26 Plus, and $1,200 for the S26 Ultra, all reflecting a $100 increase from last year's models. In addition to hardware advancements, Samsung introduced a privacy feature for the S26 Ultra's display, allowing users to obscure sensitive information such as notifications or passwords to prevent prying eyes. This customizable privacy display can be tailored for each application, along with a maximum privacy protection mode that adjusts screen brightness levels. Google made notable announcements during the event as well, unveiling an updated version of its Gemini AI, designed to assist users by completing tasks like ordering food or hailing rides. A demonstration showcased how Gemini could analyze group chat discussions to determine meal orders. Furthermore, Google revealed a new “Circle to Search” feature that enhances multi-object recognition for more intuitive searches on mobile devices. Samsung's collaboration with AI company Perplexity will see its app pre-loaded on smartphones, enabling functionalities like setting alarms and enhancing search capabilities. Users will now have access to three AI assistants: Bixby, Google Gemini, and Perplexity, along with Galaxy AI, which improves call screening and provides summaries of conversations. The event also highlighted the launch of Samsung's new earbuds: Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro. These models feature a sleeker design and boast IP54 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Buds4 Pro includes an upgraded 11mm woofer for a richer sound experience and offers longer battery life without the case. Pricing for the Buds4 starts at $179, while the Buds4 Pro is available for $250.
