Samsung Galaxy M17 5G to launch in India on October 10: What to expect

Samsung is preparing for the launch of its new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy M17 5G, scheduled for October 10 in India. This device is set to follow the Galaxy M16 5G, which made its debut earlier this year in March. In the lead-up to the launch, Samsung has shared several key details about the phone, including its design, display, and camera specifications. The Galaxy M17 5G will be available for purchase via Amazon, which has already created a dedicated microsite showcasing the phone's standout features. Market reports suggest that the smartphone will be priced at under ₹15,000, placing it firmly in the competitive budget 5G smartphone market. This pricing is expected to be similar to that of its predecessor, the Galaxy M16 5G, which launched at ₹11,499 for the 4GB + 128GB model. In terms of specifications, the Galaxy M17 5G will boast a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The device is reported to be 7.5mm thick and will be available in two color options: Moonlight Silver and Sapphire Black. Design-wise, it retains the characteristic vertical pill-shaped camera module seen in the Galaxy M16 5G. Additionally, Samsung has confirmed an IP54 rating for the device, offering protection against dust and water. Under the hood, the Galaxy M17 5G will likely be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chipset, the same 5nm processor found in the Galaxy A17 5G and Galaxy F17 5G. It is expected to feature configurations up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. On the software front, the smartphone will run One UI 7 based on Android 15 and will include integrated AI features such as Google’s Circle to Search. The camera setup on the Galaxy M17 5G will include a triple rear camera system, highlighted by a 50-megapixel primary sensor equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). This will be complemented by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, users can expect a 13-megapixel selfie camera with AI-enhanced photography capabilities. While Samsung has yet to disclose battery details, leaks suggest that the Galaxy M17 5G will be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, supporting 25W wired fast charging. As the launch date approaches, tech enthusiasts are eager to see how this new device will perform in the competitive smartphone landscape.
