In a significant advancement for photo sharing, Samsung has announced plans to integrate Google Photos directly into its television lineup by 2026. This development marks a departure from the previous methods where users had to either cast their images to Android TVs or sideload the app. The initial rollout of Google Photos on Samsung TVs will feature a curated display of photos and videos through the Memories functionality. Notably, this feature will be exclusive to Samsung for the first six months following its launch. To access their media, users will need to log into their Google accounts on the TV. Additionally, Samsung intends to incorporate AI-driven functionalities, including innovative templates powered by Nano Banana technology, as well as tools for image generation and editing. An exciting feature, dubbed Remix, will allow users to transform their existing photos into various artistic styles. Shimrit Ben-Yair, vice president of Google Photos and Google One, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating, "Google Photos is a home for people’s photos and videos, helping them organize and bring their memories to life. We’re excited to bring Google Photos to Samsung TVs—helping people enjoy their favorite photos on a larger screen and reconnect with their memories in new ways."
