Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 unveiled with bigger outer screen, AI boost and better camera

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip7, the latest iteration of its innovative foldable smartphone that aims to redefine portable technology. This new device boasts a larger edge-to-edge FlexWindow, advanced AI capabilities, a refined design, and an improved camera system, merging elegance with practicality. TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device Experience (DX) division at Samsung Electronics, stated, "The Galaxy Z Flip7 demonstrates that significant intelligence can be encapsulated in a compact, pocket-friendly device." He emphasized that the incorporation of sophisticated multimodal AI features and smooth functionality into the FlexWindow allows for a device that not only adapts to users' needs but also enhances their overall experience. The most noticeable design enhancement is the expansive 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow, which now shines brighter at 2,600 nits and extends to the edges of the phone. This feature allows users to view messages, manage music, utilize widgets, and interact with the AI voice assistant Gemini without the need to open the device. Additionally, the upgraded cover screen includes functionalities such as real-time app activity through Now Bar and personalized updates via Now Brief. On the inside, the Galaxy Z Flip7 features a striking 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that promises vibrant visuals with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It is powered by a custom 3nm processor and houses the largest battery ever in a Galaxy Z Flip, boasting a capacity of 4,300mAh that supports up to 31 hours of video playback. The camera system is another highlight, featuring a dual rear setup with a 50MP wide lens and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The innovative FlexCam allows for selfies and videos to be captured directly from the cover screen, while new tools like Real-Time Filters, Zoom Slider, and Dual Preview enhance the creative shooting experience. Features such as Enhanced Nightography and 10-bit HDR support significantly improve low-light photography and video quality. For the first time, Samsung is introducing its PC-style DeX mode to the Flip series, enabling users to connect the phone to an external display for a desktop-like experience. Alongside the standard model, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE was announced, featuring many core attributes in a more simplified format with a 6.7-inch main screen and a 3.4-inch cover display. Both models emphasize user privacy with upgraded Samsung Knox security and app-specific encrypted storage through KEEP, alongside advancements in quantum-resistant encryption for enhanced network security. Available in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and a Mint variant exclusive to Samsung's online store, the Galaxy Z Flip7 will begin pre-orders on July 9, with general availability starting July 25. Samsung is also offering six months of complimentary access to Google AI Pro and 2TB of cloud storage with both the Flip7 and Flip7 FE.
