Samsung Galaxy S26 might finally ditch slow charging, leak suggests

The anticipated Galaxy S26 series from Samsung is slated for a global launch in February, with new leaks shedding light on the standard model's features. Initial reports hinted at few updates for the base Galaxy S26, but emerging information suggests a noteworthy enhancement: a potential increase in charging speed. According to a recent post by tipster Ahmed Qwaider, the Galaxy S26 could support fast wired charging at 45W, a significant upgrade from the 25W charging capabilities found in the Galaxy S25, which debuted in January 2025. While the Galaxy S25+ already offered 45W charging, the base model lagged behind its counterparts. If these new claims hold true, the Galaxy S26 would align more closely with the rest of the flagship lineup, providing users with improved charging performance. However, not all sources agree on this potential upgrade. Renowned tipster Ice Universe previously asserted that the base Galaxy S26 would retain the 25W charging standard. This discrepancy leaves the final specifications uncertain, yet a faster charging option would certainly be welcomed, especially considering the limited enhancements expected elsewhere. Reports indicate that the Galaxy S26 will maintain the same 4,300mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, suggesting that any improvements would emphasize charging speed rather than an increase in battery size. Additionally, the leaks reveal a divergent chipset strategy, with the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ likely to utilize Samsung's Exynos 2600 processor, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to incorporate Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This approach mirrors Samsung's recent trend of equipping the Ultra model with the most advanced technology. In terms of camera specifications, the base Galaxy S26 is expected to feature the same hardware as the Galaxy S25, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The 12-megapixel front camera is also anticipated to remain unchanged, as Samsung has reportedly abandoned plans for significant camera upgrades due to rising component costs and a desire to keep pricing competitive.
