From AI displays to Knox security, Samsung expands enterprise ambitions in India

Samsung is intensifying its efforts in India's enterprise technology landscape by inaugurating its Business Experience Studio in Gurugram. This marks the company's second facility of its kind in the nation, following the establishment of its Mumbai studio. The new experience center allows businesses to explore Samsung’s comprehensive enterprise ecosystem, which includes AI-driven displays, secure workplace solutions, cloud infrastructure, and specialized applications tailored for various sectors like retail, banking, healthcare, education, and hospitality. As technology firms increasingly pivot from consumer electronics to enterprise solutions, Samsung is strategically embedding artificial intelligence and cybersecurity into its products. Puneet Sethi, Vice President and Head of Samsung Enterprise Business, emphasized that AI is fundamentally integrated into their devices, rather than added as an afterthought. "AI is our foundation, embedded in our devices. All features related to AI are inherent to our products," Sethi stated, highlighting that this approach can facilitate smarter workflows and enhance operational efficiency across organizations. Samsung's enterprise growth is also aligned with its broader strategy to boost local manufacturing in India. The company has significantly ramped up production under the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, manufacturing a substantial portion of its products locally in Noida and Chennai. In addition to manufacturing, Samsung is enhancing its research and development initiatives through its engineering centers in Noida and Bengaluru, as Sethi noted, "We conduct considerable R&D within our centers located in the country." At the Gurugram studio, Samsung has developed specialized zones to showcase how its technologies can be effectively utilized across different industries. These areas include connected classrooms, AI-enabled displays for retail, enterprise mobility solutions, and secure workplace systems. Sethi remarked that several industry sectors are positively impacting Samsung's enterprise growth in India. The studio is designed to serve as both a demonstration space and a business engagement platform, aimed at promoting the adoption of Samsung’s connected ecosystem among enterprises. In light of increasing concerns over data security and regulatory compliance, Samsung is placing a strong emphasis on cybersecurity through its Knox platform. During a demonstration, the company illustrated how Samsung Knox safeguards enterprise devices, networks, and cloud infrastructures. Sethi described Knox as a "defense-grade security platform," ensuring compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act in India. Moreover, Samsung aims to strengthen its partnerships within India's growing Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem, which is becoming an essential hub for technology and innovation for multinational companies. Sethi expressed optimism about this burgeoning sector, stating, "India is a significant contributor to GCC, and we are actively collaborating with many of these centers to provide our products and solutions."
