In a significant endorsement for Google's latest large language model, Gemini 3, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has expressed enthusiasm following a recent demonstration. In a post shared on Monday, Benioff referred to the model as an impressive advancement, stating that after only two hours of use, he felt no need to revert to ChatGPT. Benioff praised Gemini 3 for its enhanced speed, improved reasoning capabilities, and advancements in processing images and video. He also referenced a Wall Street Journal article that reported Google has outstripped its rivals with this new release. The third iteration of Gemini has reportedly excelled in performance tests compared to OpenAI's ChatGPT and other leading models, marking a significant achievement for Google. Employees at Google had been privately testing Gemini 3 for months and had already recognized its potential. Tulsee Doshi, the senior director of product management for Gemini, shared that in her informal evaluations, the model demonstrated substantial improvements when asked to write in Gujarati, a language commonly spoken in India but less prevalent in the digital space. Aaron Levie, the CEO of Box, also lauded the model's capabilities, stating that their early assessments yielded unexpectedly high results when evaluating extensive and complex document sets. The performance increase was so remarkable that Levie's team initially doubted the accuracy of their findings. The successful launch of Gemini 3 is a pivotal moment for Google, which has been striving to regain its footing in the AI domain since the rapid emergence of ChatGPT three years ago. Initial feedback for Gemini 3 underscores its intelligence, accuracy, and creative versatility. Moreover, Google plans to use this model to enhance Nano Banana, an image-generation tool that has significantly increased Gemini's adoption this year. Michael Nathanson, an analyst at MoffettNathanson, remarked that Google seems to have taken a commanding lead in the current AI development race, positioning itself as a clear frontrunner. While OpenAI continues to maintain a large user base, with ChatGPT attracting approximately 800 million weekly users, Google reports around 650 million monthly users for Gemini. Other models like Anthropic’s Claude are still popular for coding tasks, but analysts believe Gemini 3's extensive capabilities bolster Google's competitive stance across various applications. In light of previous concerns about losing momentum, Google has spent the past year reorganizing its AI efforts, with CEO Sundar Pichai and senior executives advocating for better team coordination and consolidated model development. Notably, co-founder Sergey Brin has taken a more active role to steer research and product strategy.
