AI is doing 30%-50% of the work at Salesforce, CEO Marc Benioff says

Salesforce is rapidly integrating artificial intelligence into its operations, a move highlighted by CEO Marc Benioff during a recent interview. He emphasized that AI is currently responsible for automating approximately 30% to 50% of the company's workload, allowing employees to focus on more strategic tasks. In a landscape where technology firms are fiercely seeking to improve efficiency and cut costs, the impact of AI is becoming increasingly evident. Earlier this year, Salesforce made the difficult decision to eliminate over 1,000 jobs as part of a restructuring initiative centered around AI. This trend is not unique to Salesforce; other major companies, like cybersecurity leader CrowdStrike, have also made significant workforce reductions tied to AI advancements. Klarna's CEO, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, noted a staggering 40% reduction in headcount, attributing this change partially to investments in AI. Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, echoed these sentiments, indicating that AI will play a crucial role in streamlining job functions within the e-commerce giant. Benioff described the ongoing shift toward AI in the workplace as a "digital labor revolution," revealing that Salesforce has achieved an impressive accuracy rate of approximately 93% with its AI systems. While he acknowledged this is a commendable achievement, he also cautioned that reaching 100% accuracy isn't feasible at this stage. He pointed out that many competitors are struggling to match Salesforce's accuracy, primarily due to a lack of sufficient data and metadata. In a related note, Benioff expressed that data centers and chips have now become commodities in the tech industry. As Salesforce continues to innovate, the role of AI in reshaping the workforce is set to expand even further.
