Rivian raises 2026 delivery outlook after strong demand in the second quarter

Rivian Automotive has announced an increase in its delivery projections for 2026, fueled by unexpectedly robust demand for its electric vehicles in the second quarter. The company revealed on Thursday that it anticipates delivering between 65,000 and 70,000 vehicles this year, a rise from its earlier estimate of 62,000 to 67,000 units. In the second quarter alone, Rivian produced 12,613 vehicles and successfully delivered 12,194 units. This delivery figure surpassed FactSet's analyst consensus of 11,000 units and exceeded Rivian's own prior guidance of 9,000 to 11,000 electric vehicles. The surge in deliveries is credited to the popularity of its electric delivery van and the flagship R1 product line. Additionally, Rivian commenced deliveries of its new midsize R2 SUV during this quarter, with production ramping up at its Normal, Illinois facility, which has an annual capacity of 160,000 vehicles. As Rivian continues to grow, its competitors, including Tesla and Lucid Group, are also set to release their second-quarter delivery numbers soon.
