Google's new invite-only AI tool emails you morning briefings based on your Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. I tried it.

Imagine starting your day not just with coffee but also with a tailored briefing from Google’s latest AI innovation. Recently unveiled by Google Labs, the AI productivity tool named CC is designed to curate your morning priorities from your Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. This inventive tool utilizes the advanced Gemini technology to provide users with a personalized rundown of their day. Users can also interact with CC through email, requesting tasks such as setting reminders or summarizing emails at any time. CC is an extension of Google's earlier projects, including the well-received NotebookLM, which emerged from 'Project Tailwind' initiated in 2022. After a brief wait on the approval list, I received my inaugural CC briefing at 5:18 a.m. the following day, complete with insights and reminders for the upcoming weekend. During my experience, I challenged CC to sift through my unread newsletters to pinpoint the top four stories I should focus on. However, it surprisingly struggled to locate many newsletters, identifying only one from CNN, despite my inbox containing additional unread emails from The New York Times and other sources. On a positive note, CC successfully gathered articles from the previous day’s newsletters, including pieces from Vanity Fair and The Atlantic. I then decided to test CC’s ability to uncover hidden gems among my promotional emails, particularly looking for any movie ticket discounts. To my delight, CC delivered five enticing offers for films such as "No Other Choice" and "The Voice of Hind Rajab," which I would have missed without this inquiry. The primary appeal of Google’s CC lies in its potential to filter through the clutter of promotional emails, delivering relevant information without the hassle of digging through spam. While the tool appears promising for individual users, it is currently not available for enterprise accounts. For those in the United States and Canada aged 18 and over, the waitlist is open for anyone eager to experience this innovative tool. Interested users can sign up for CC and begin their journey towards a more organized morning routine.
