Ring brings its ‘Search Party’ feature for finding lost dogs to non-Ring camera owners

Ring has announced an exciting expansion of its AI-driven 'Search Party' feature, now accessible not only to Ring camera owners but to all users in the U.S. This initiative is designed to help pet owners locate their lost dogs more efficiently by leveraging a network of community cameras. Originally launched last fall, the Search Party feature utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze footage from neighboring Ring cameras for potential sightings of missing dogs. When a pet owner reports their dog as lost through the Ring app, outdoor cameras in the vicinity can automatically scan for matches. If a potential match is detected, the camera owner receives a notification and has the option to share relevant video clips with the pet owner, as well as communicate without revealing their personal phone number. Since its debut, the Search Party feature has successfully reunited over one dog per day with its owner, showcasing its effectiveness. Jamie Siminoff, the founder of Ring, emphasized the importance of community involvement in pet recovery, stating, “Now, pet owners can mobilize the whole community—and communities are empowered to help—to find lost pets more effectively than ever before.” He further highlighted the feature's availability to anyone who posts about a lost dog in the Neighbors app, which is designed for Ring users. In conjunction with the feature's rollout, Amazon-owned Ring has pledged $1 million to provide camera systems to animal shelters across the U.S., aiming to support 4,000 facilities. By integrating these shelters into Ring's network, the company hopes to enhance the chances of reuniting lost dogs with their families. Additionally, Ring collaborates with various non-profits like Petco Love and Best Friends Animal Society and is open to exploring further partnerships to bolster this initiative.
