Beyond Siri: Here are the practical AI features coming to your iPhone in iOS 27

At the recent Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled significant enhancements to Siri, but the company’s artificial intelligence initiatives extend far beyond just voice commands. This new wave of AI is seamlessly integrated into the apps and services users are already familiar with, aiming to address real-world challenges effectively. Among the most anticipated features set to arrive with iOS 27 is the ability to effortlessly split restaurant bills using Apple Cash. Users can simply photograph their receipt, and Apple’s AI will extract necessary details like items ordered, totals, and tips. This user-friendly feature prompts you to share requests with friends via group chats, making it easy for everyone to indicate what they ordered and settle the bill with just a double-click. Another notable addition is an enhanced password management system that utilizes AI to automatically identify and update weak or compromised passwords. Instead of requiring users to remember and change their passwords manually, this feature can intelligently navigate websites and securely enhance password strength, ensuring user accounts remain protected. The Messages app will also see improvements, as AI-driven one-tap suggestions will appear based on conversation topics. For example, if a friend requests an item for a meetup, users will be prompted to add this to their reminders. Similarly, if someone asks for photos from an event, the app can suggest relevant images based on context. In customer service scenarios, iOS 27 introduces a Call Context feature that displays essential information, such as reservation confirmation codes, directly on the call screen. This functionality is powered by Apple’s AI, which retrieves information from emails, ensuring a smoother interaction without the need for manual searching. Calendar management becomes simpler too, with a feature that allows users to add events just by describing them in natural language. The AI will process this information, creating titles and filling in necessary details automatically, making event scheduling a breeze. The Shortcuts app, known for its automation capabilities, will also become more accessible. Users can now describe tasks they want their iPhone to perform, from setting alarms based on calendar events to sending automatic messages about arrival times. In the realm of smart home management, the Home app will leverage AI to consolidate multiple notifications into a single alert, reducing notification clutter. It will also assist in locating important video clips based on user searches, ensuring relevant footage is easy to find. Lastly, Safari will introduce a tab organizing feature, intelligently grouping related tabs based on user browsing behavior while ensuring privacy is respected. These innovative features highlight Apple’s commitment to enhancing user experience through smart technology, making everyday tasks easier and more intuitive for iPhone users. With the public beta coming soon, excitement is building for the full iOS 27 release later this fall.
