Ex-Meta engineers have built an AI tool to plan every detail of your trip

In an era where data drives innovation, the travel sector is witnessing a surge in AI-powered solutions aimed at simplifying the planning process. Among the notable entrants is Airial, a startup that promises to meticulously map out every aspect of your travel experience from beginning to end. Users can kick off their adventure planning by inputting basic trip details into the platform. Airial’s AI swiftly generates a comprehensive travel itinerary, covering flights, accommodations, and transportation across various destinations. The tool also crafts a daily schedule filled with recommended attractions and dining options, tailored to individual preferences. What sets Airial apart is its user-friendly interface, allowing travelers to view their entire itinerary at a glance. Each segment of the trip can be explored in detail, complete with overviews, reviews, and alternative suggestions. The AI assistant is also on hand to answer specific questions about recommended locations. A unique feature includes a map view, which helps users assess proximity between points of interest, while also providing essential travel details such as transfer durations and potential day trips. The founders, Archit Karandikar and Sanjeev Shenoy, both originally from India, bring a wealth of experience from their time at tech giants like Meta and Google. Their shared passion for travel inspired them to create a tool that feels like having a personal travel agent at your fingertips. "Unlike other platforms that offer rough outlines, our model delves into the logistics of your trip, ensuring every detail is accounted for," Karandikar explained in a conversation with TechCrunch. Airial is designed to offer personalized recommendations, adapting to dietary preferences such as vegetarianism, ensuring users receive suggestions that suit their needs. The underlying technology combines advanced inference methods with large language models (LLMs), based on research from DeepMind, to create efficient and tailored travel plans. With a successful seed funding round of $3 million led by Montage Ventures, Airial is set to expand its reach. The startup aims to enhance user experience by incorporating features like trip sharing and collaborative planning, as well as expanding transportation options to include cars and buses. Looking ahead, Airial is committed to developing mobile applications for iOS and Android, while also focusing on verticalized searches for hotels, activities, and influencer content. As it stands, the platform already attracts tens of thousands of monthly visitors, prioritizing user growth over immediate revenue.
