Google’s Gemini can now help you schedule Google Calendar meetings

Google has unveiled an innovative tool designed to enhance the scheduling experience for Gmail users paired with Google Calendar. Launched on Tuesday, this new feature, powered by Gemini AI, is titled "Help me schedule" and simplifies the process of finding optimal meeting times based on availability. This function is specifically tailored for one-on-one meetings, ensuring a streamlined approach without the complexities of group scheduling. The introduction of this feature coincides with a series of announcements from Google Workspace aimed at integrating AI across its suite of tools. Notable updates include the debut of the Nano Banana image editing model, enhancements in Google Slides, the ability to share custom AI assistants named Gems, and improved video tools within Google Vids. To utilize the meeting scheduling feature, users need to click the new "Help me schedule" button located beneath the email compose window in Gmail. This action prompts a display of available time slots. Users can modify or remove options before inserting them into the email, which is then sent to the intended recipient. Once the recipient selects a convenient time, a calendar invite is automatically generated for both parties. While the market is already populated with various automated scheduling assistants such as Calendly, Doodle, and Zoom, Google emphasizes that its tool leverages Gemini AI to consider the context of the email for its suggestions. For example, if a user indicates a preference for a 30-minute meeting, the assistant will only propose half-hour slots that fit within the user's schedule, providing a tailored and efficient scheduling experience.
