Keeper, an innovative AI matchmaking startup, claims it can connect you with your soulmate — but be prepared to pay a hefty price tag of $50,000. CEO Jake Kozloski shared insights with Business Insider about the company's unique approach to modern matchmaking, emphasizing their commitment to efficiency over quantity. "We're not going to waste your time by suggesting a hundred thousand potential matches. We can identify who might truly be your soulmate," Kozloski explained. Founded in 2022, Keeper employs sophisticated algorithms and AI models to facilitate connections among its users. The startup recently revealed that it secured a $4 million pre-seed funding round in October 2024, led by Lightbank and Lakehouse Ventures, with participation from other notable investors. Kozloski noted that investors recognize AI as a pivotal opportunity to disrupt the conventional dating app landscape. In a market filled with competitors like Tinder and Bumble, Keeper is not alone in its quest to redefine online dating. Other startups, such as Sitch and Amata, are also leveraging AI to create next-generation dating experiences. Kozloski highlighted that Keeper's values resonated with investors, particularly amid discussions of a marriage crisis. However, he clarified that the desire for children is not a prerequisite for using the platform. Since its launch, Keeper has attracted over 1.5 million sign-ups, with around 300,000 users creating profiles. While the platform has facilitated a limited number of matches so far, its pitch deck reveals that 10% of dates from its beta version have resulted in engagements. With the newly acquired funding, Keeper has focused on enhancing its matchmaking technology. Currently, the platform caters exclusively to heterosexual couples, with plans to develop algorithms for same-sex relationships in the future. Kozloski mentioned that the bulk of their market research indicates a stronger demand within heterosexual relationships at this stage. Creating a profile on Keeper is an extensive process, requiring users to provide standard dating details as well as academic scores, career ambitions, and financial information. The platform curates profiles based on the data collected, employing both AI and human matchmakers to ensure quality connections. Keeper's pricing model is particularly notable: male users are charged a $5,000 fee for each date and must sign a "marriage bounty" contract worth $50,000, which is only charged if they get married. The startup has ambitious goals, aiming for a future where fully automated matchmaking can lower date costs while still ensuring high-quality matches. In its pitch deck, Keeper emphasizes the untapped potential of the matchmaking market, stating, "When technology provides perfect matches, matchmaking will be the best way to meet your partner." As the startup continues to refine its offerings, it aims to position itself as a leader in the evolving landscape of online dating.
