
Neura Robotics, a pioneering startup based in Germany, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Qualcomm, a leader in semiconductor technology, to develop the next generation of robots and physical artificial intelligence. This collaboration represents a significant move within the burgeoning physical AI sector, where robotics firms are increasingly aligning with established tech giants to enhance their capabilities. Though specific products have not yet been revealed, the partnership aims to create the "brain and nervous system" for robots. This initiative seeks to propel the deployment of humanoid and versatile robots in both domestic and industrial environments. Neura plans to leverage Qualcomm’s Dragonwing Robotics IQ10 processors as foundational designs within its robots. These advanced chips, which were unveiled at CES earlier this year, are tailored for use in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and humanoid platforms. Additionally, Neura will utilize its Neuraverse platform—a robotic simulation and training environment launched in June 2025—to refine and optimize robots powered by Qualcomm’s IQ10 processors. David Reger, CEO of Neura Robotics, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "This collaboration marks a major step toward making physical AI real: open, scalable, and trusted. By integrating our cognitive robotics platforms with Qualcomm's expertise in edge AI and connectivity, we aim to accelerate a future where cognitive robots safely coexist with humans across various industries and daily life." This partnership is strategic for both companies, as it exemplifies a model that may gain traction among robotics firms looking to transition their innovations into practical applications. A comparable example is Boston Dynamics, which teamed up with Google DeepMind earlier this year to enhance the development of its Atlas humanoid robot using Google’s AI technologies. Although Neura and Boston Dynamics are focusing on different technological aspects—AI models versus hardware—the overarching strategy remains similar. By collaborating rather than merely purchasing technology, these companies can more effectively integrate advanced solutions into their products. This could streamline their path to market and reduce costs, especially for firms proficient in software that can now partner with hardware experts who have already tackled significant technical challenges. For Neura Robotics, this alliance provides the opportunity to design and test robots specifically tailored for Qualcomm's processors, while Qualcomm gains valuable insights into how these processors are utilized in the robotics sector. As more AI firms, including Nvidia, view physical AI as a pivotal market for future growth, expect to see a surge in similar partnerships.
