Framework Laptop 13 Pro is the first major revision to the original Framework Laptop

After five years of offering its innovative and modular Laptop 13, Framework is unveiling the Laptop 13 Pro, representing a significant evolution from its predecessor. This new model features a comprehensive redesign rather than merely an upgrade, integrating the latest Core Ultra Series 3 processors, known by their codename Panther Lake. Among the standout features of the Laptop 13 Pro is its inaugural touchscreen, which enhances user interaction and functionality. The laptop is now available in a sleek black aluminum finish, alongside a larger battery that promises extended usage. While the new design does sacrifice some compatibility with the original Laptop 13, it maintains interchangeability for displays and motherboards, allowing existing Framework Laptop owners to upgrade components with ease. Weighing in at 1.4 kg (approximately 3 pounds), the Laptop 13 Pro is slightly heavier than its predecessor but remains competitive against models like the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro, which weighs 1.55 kg (3.4 pounds). The Laptop 13 Pro will be offered with a starting price of $1,199 for a DIY edition equipped with a Core Ultra 5 325 processor, excluding RAM, SSD, or an operating system. Customers preferring a prebuilt model with Ubuntu Linux can expect a starting price of $1,499, while adding Windows 11 will incur an extra $100. For those seeking higher performance, a Core Ultra X7 358H version starts at $1,599, and a limited edition Core Ultra X9 388H version is priced at $1,799.
